AI company Anthropic says its Claude model is now playing a significant role in developing the company's next generation of AI systems.
According to Anthropic, Claude is currently involved in 26% of the company's AI research and development work, while around 90% of its R&D involves collaboration with Claude under human supervision. The company says the model is not yet operating completely autonomously.
The announcement comes as major AI companies face growing questions about how quickly increasingly capable AI systems should be developed and how their behavior should be monitored.
Anthropic has also said it wants greater transparency around AI progress and has introduced additional monitoring measures. The development could mark an important step toward AI systems being used to assist in building future generations of AI themselves.
